#16 | Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival

This wasn't just my first time in Palm Springs but it also my first time attending the Coachella Music Festival. I have been hearing stories about this festival and watching live YouTube streams for the past four years but due to writing finals this was my first real opportunity to check it out. Coachella is two weekends in April with the same artists both weekends. There were seven stages which includes a small DJ stage that remained open for three days and had performances for about 14 hours each day. Some artists received a half hour of stage time, while some were given almost an hour and a half. I think in total, I almost watched 30 performances trying to catch every performance that I planned on seeing as well as watching more to get my moneys worth and avoid regret.

I saw so many performances that I would have not ever imagined seeing all within three busy days. From headliners to special guests, it was awesome to hear so many different styles of music and see different personalities on stage in such a quick time. One question I have been asked a lot is "Who were your favourite performances?" In the end, this was hard for me to narrow down but based on energy, guest performances, nostalgic reasoning and overall quality I have to go with Pharrell, Kid Cudi, Haim and the Flatbush Zombies.

Based on my experience this year, I will definitely try to go back again for 2015.

#15 | Palm Springs

Visiting the Palm Springs area was the second part of my trip. We rented a car to drive from Las Vegas to Palm Desert for the second weekend of the Coachella music festival. This was more low key, we stayed at a friend's place with a full working kitchen, free wifi and a pool maybe twenty steps away from the back door which kept us around the house a lot of the time.

We spent our time swimming, eating out at some of the local restaurants, hiking, shopping the premium outlets, cooking up crab for the first time and trying to get a decent tan. It was fun, the weather was mid to high 30's making me feel bad that back at home we were getting more snow.

Stay tuned for the next part of my trip!
